Higher Education Policies Working Towards the SDGs in
Asia and the EHEA (European Higher Education Area)
From 27 to 29 September, the ASEF and EHEA’s Coordination Group on Global Policy Dialogue (CG GPD) organised the event “Higher Education Policies Working Towards the SDGs in Asia and the EHEA (European Higher Education Area)” at both the Sapienza Università di Roma and Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi, with the support of the IN-GLOBAL project.
During this event, various representatives of Asian countries and stakeholders (Brunei, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines and SEAMEO RIHED) and members of the EHEA CG GPD met to discuss various topics related to Higher Education. The event gathered around 30 participants including policymakers, university and student leaders, who were engaged in plenary sessions and parallel workshops to build a constructive dialogue and exchange their expertise and insights on SDGs (especially on SDG4) and Higher Education policies.
More specifically, these days of the event were instrumental in the preparation of both the recommendations to be presented at the ASEM Education Process Ministerial Conference (to be held on 25-26 January 2024 in Malta), as well as the central themes for the Tirana Declaration and Global Policy Forum (to be held in May 2024 in Tirana).
Besides, an interview was filmed during the event on how to strengthen dialogue between Asia and Europe on higher education policy and on how to foster the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in higher education in the two regions.
